Autumn, 2006~ my friend Loreli and I got together with
a big ass pile of junk~ scrap metal~ wood~ animal bones~
you name it~ and busted out some collaborative sculpture.
The giant butterfly is made from the roof of an old Dodge
Van, a 2.5 inch diameter pipe, and some rebar, painted in
full glorious color by Loreli after welding it all together.
You can see a smaller-sized big butterfly hanging from
a tree in the background while she adds some details...
BIG BUTTERFLY FROM THE ROOF OF A DODGE VAN
GARDEN AT MY PARENT'S HOUSE UP NORTH
Lysdexicuss: Do you have the butterfly somewhere unseen at your current home? I love those shots of the sculpture spotlit at night, or flying bravely through the harsh winter.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your flying under (or over) the radar there, my friend! Nice country. This is on the island off the Carolina Coast? Nice.
The Butterfly now resides in the English Garden at my Parent's house up north, as shown in pictures 3,4, and 5 ;~j
ReplyDeleteThat's really fun. Who knew a van roof could do that?! I'm disappointed to see you don't look as insane in your pic as I'd hoped. You really let me down with your normalness. (teasing.) thanks for the pics!

ReplyDeleteas it says in the captions! Anyway, it's really pretty there. I love that snow-covered wing. Give your friend, Loreli, my compliments on her nice detail work. -- Mykal

ReplyDeletePictures of an artistic genius on the verge of his greatest successes...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the glimpses into your world. In think those giant budder fwy's should be nailed/propped up high in a tree/limb, preferably near a busy roadway.
"Is...is that moth-man?"
i honestly believe you just might be
