KID STUFF, DAY THIRTY-TWO !

This was a collaboration with Ryan Cecil in 4th Grade. The character Pcyclops was our own invention. There were over a dozen pages that supposedly got 'eaten' by the copy machine of a mutual Friend... To this day, I suspect sabotage ! The kid was a bad seed and quite prone to jealousy & anger. He died young in an alcohol related car crash. The cover survived because it was the last page Ryan & I drew together...

  1. Sad about the missing pages. It looks like it was entertaining. I love the name Pcyclops.

  3. Hey Jamie! Good ol' crayons! I wonder when, in the life of a burgeoning artist, he or she decides to explore other colorful, non-waxy media...especially when dealing with comic-book type productions (clearly a sign of a very ambitious tyke). There is definitely some point in which the artist begins to look down on crayons as an elementary-school tool and he/she strives for a more professional look...that's when some of the creativity really takes off. I'm thinking about when that more sophisticated "awareness" kicks in...

  4. I actually re-explored crayons in mid-20's, with water-color washes. The oil texture of the former lifts off and floats above the latter, really cool. If one is dedicated one will eventually explore all the mediums and hone in on the one that resonates the strongest with their personality.
