TYPEWRITER GEEK WEEK~ THE 14 TON GIANT UNDERWOOD #5~!

This massive 14 ton typewriter really existed, and went through
several transformations and re-boots along the way. The 1st postcard
you see below is the one that got me started on the hunt for more info
about this forgotten relic. I inherited this Postcard from my Great
Aunt Peg, who attended the 1939 World's Fair and saw this beast
in action. The Underwood Company created it back in the teens,
as part of a traveling Advertising campaign. The typewriter and
its crew of Gals & Technicians went to Panama, San Francisco,
Atlantic City etc., before landing at the NYC World's Fair in
1939. This machine was a GIANT working model, that used
a female Model/Typist to dance upon the keys to write.
Special paper had to be made for this behemoth as well.

Sadly, with the scrap drives to build War Machines for WWII,
this oddball creation of a bygone era got melted down to
Serve her Country one last time...

Goll dang-it~! When somebody gonna invent a
TIME Machine sos I can go back for a visit~!

TYPEWRITER GEEK WEEK~ ADVERTISING~!

I would be McLov'n the McCool typewriter if it could
jack into an I-Pad,Yo~! Ruht-ro~! Don't get me
started on old vs. new~! I might just do
something radical, like reinvent
sliced bread or something~!

It is interesting to see what SLANT the salespeople of
yesteryear would put on an item in order to hook
potential buyers. Hey~! That gives me another
idea~! The I-Suck, a self-deprecating personal
pocket-pal computer that does everything
your ex-girlfriend wouldn't~ nyuck nyuck~!

HEADSTONE DESIGNS~ AN ODD JOB~!

One of the stranger things I've worked on
artistically... Are these Headstone designs,
for a marble grave-marker of a former
co-worker's family. They had this little
dog that the departed Father loved,
and his Wife chose Swans to be a
symbol of their loving 40-year-long
marriage. The hard part was, trying
to continually simplify the design so
that it didn't cause fits for the Marble
Carver/Engraver. I hope my karma
is clean~ cause I'm requesting to be
cremated, and don't want a gas-leak
to blow my ass to bits~!

THE BIG GONG THEORY~ SCI-FI BOOK COVER~!

B-4 I got hooked on writing screenplays,
I dabbled in the format of straight-up fiction.
I wrote about 30 typed pages for an as yet
uncompleted Sci-Fi novel entitled 'The Big
Gong Theory', but around that same time,
a little show called 'The X-Files' hit the
airwaves and delved into all the esoteric
and occult subject matter this book was
about (albeit in a different way). The
simple premise was that an Asteroid
collision with Earth set the planet to
vibrate millions of years ago, which
splintered different vibratory
realities off into their own
dimension, most being
invisible to our meager
5 senses. But NOW,
all the vibrations
were re-merging
into the same
plane, like

A Gong Coming to a Stop~!

This cover helped me 'work through'
certain concepts, and continues to
ignite ideas on this super-cool
subject.

McCLICK-CLICK CAMEO~ THE RED BALLOON ~!

Here is another over-size piece that was victimized by a
sharp pair of scissors. I am not in the habit of worshiping
my own works, apparently; but now that I am archiving
stuff I do wish I hadn't mauled a few items~ or~ that
there was a 12ft x 8ft scanner~! Anyhoo~ the pen & ink
below was entitled 'The Red Balloon', and whipped out
during an herbal episode from that bygone era of my
former consciousness. I enjoy looking at some of the
details, even though I can never see it 'whole' again~
except in the slide photo directly below... Note the
thumbtack in the upper right corner, which
gives an inclination of the scale...

CAFE APOLLO~ YET ANOTHER COMIC STRIP CONCEPT~!

The premise was simple:

"The Greek/Roman Gods are alive and well,
running an Italian Restaurant in NYC~!"

The style was intended to be a cross between
Dick Browne's HAGAR strip and Johnny Hart's
rendition of THE WIZARD OF ID...
