KAYAK CART~ HOT OFF THE WELDER~!

Living on a small Island naturally creates
problems, and also causes one to be more
conscious of certain things...

RUST is my enemy, and the DUMP is
where I go to find replacement parts
while 'recycling' trash.

Thus, when asked recently if I could make
a kayak cart on the cheap~ the answer was
obvious~ as well as the place where some
one-stop shopping could be done.

New galvanized pipe was used for the axle
and load-bearing length of this tow-behind
vehicle accessory. The forks and wheels
and other galvanized pieces are all re-
cycled from my favorite place to
visit... (the Dump)

Does anyone else come home with
more than they take ?

Chief Seatl of the Duwamish Tribe said
in his famous letter to President Grant
that if the White Man wasn't careful,
he would bury himself in his own
shit~!

Well, there is a Plastic Continent in the
Pacific that I want to claim... but it
will take years to get there by
kayak if I start paddling now...

So, I guess re-cycling is a better
solution than throwing shit away~!

14ft Kayak towed by a 173 pound
42 year old Male, no problemo~!

Talking to the Cart's future owner,
telling him his road-boat is Yar...

Dirty & sweaty after 10 hours of
labor on a hot humid summer day...

I welded galvanized stoppers on either end of the
axle and drilled holes for bungie-cord hooks...

3/4 pipe slides into 1 inch pipe with adjustable
pin-holes, to get the balance correct given
different length kayaks etc...

A 3rd wheel is used just to maneuver this beast
around and make it easier to connect to the bike,
then gets removed before riding her away...

Posing for the camera girl is never easy, unless
you are too dog-tired to care ;~j

  2. Awesome. Oddly, I have been thinking of taking up kayaking or canoeing as the inland canals in Florida are perfect for such. How's she turn?

  3. KW: BEEP BEEP BOOP... I- am- not- programmed- to replicate- my- own- species~! BEEP BOOP BOOP.

Mykal: Yeah~ the turning radius is surprisingly tight. I was able to completely turn around in a two-way street and go the opposite way without breaking stride~!
