Now I know my memory is slipping...
In a recent post (end of November)
I told about the night that Erik Victor
McCrea & I created our most beloved
character, Matt Crenshaw. My dis-
rememory thought that we also
drew one-page stories that
night featuring Aliens &
COWS ! Ha ha ! Turns
out, it was Aliens &
flies ! For more
backstory,
follow:
I rediscovered these one-page gems
on a recent visit to the Folk's house.
As I recall, Erik & I discussed a
general idea/theme, and then
simultaneously went to work
penciling separate storyboards,
then compared how each of us
went about 'directing' the scene.
ERIK VICTOR McCREA'S
Fun stuff ! Plus, we did that
Pin-Up of Matt Crenshaw !
Do productive slumber
parties still occur ?
Ah, the innocence
of youth...
I remember nights like this. That was big fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no recollection of this!! Those wacky shape-shifting aliens took on the form of flies because it was the first life-form they saw...not a bad idea at all!!! But they get swatted/crushed so quickly...there is not enough time to build a storyline. Poor aliens. I am beginning to think that each alien/fly is actually a small fragment of the Matt Crenshaw soul...and therefore has to pay the ultimate price. Matt can be reincarnated in any alternate dimension or parallel universe, and he will always meet the same fate...
Erik, I really like your comical ending way better than my serious one. The Little Boy finding the crashed Saucer thinking it was a Toy was a stroke of real Genius ! Don't count yourself out of the comic biz just yet, my Friend. With Harvey Pekar gone, we could sure use a cerebral writer that doesn't work with Super-Chumps !
