THE THINGS WE SAVE...

It took me a while to remember WHY

I saved this delivery slip from over a

decade ago... until remembering

there were TWO reasons !

1st reason: This customer

was a scammer con-artist

who tricked us once before

to get free food, so, I saved

it for future reference...

2nd reason: On the back

side, written very lightly

until I traced over it with

a Sharpie, the message I saw

on an 18-wheel rig and have

NEVER seen again on any

other truck. Was I conscious

of this oddity in the moment,

or just fond of the saying itself ?

Like when Roy Schieder says,

"We're gonna need a bigger boat !"

His character wasn't trying to be

funny, but the juxtaposition

itself made it comical.

some very odd contrasting imagery...

About ten years ago, my Dad was walking

the Family Dog up the hill in their neighborhood

when the Border Collie started acting skittish,

then freaked out and commenced barking at

something BEHIND them down the street.

My Pop whirled with his trusty flashlight

& BING: lit up a Cougar. Mid-sized. NO,

not a 30-something drunk woman

stumbling home from a bar, but~

a real honest to goodness

Mountain Cat visiting

the Suburbs. Big Cats

like these are territorial~

but~ their territory can be as

large a range as 300 square miles !

Anyhoo~ believe it not~ the Neighbor

came by real excited last week... He

found some very LARGE, interesting

tracks !

So, minus a Deerslayer, Inspector

Nimrod (me) was hot on the case,

trying to track the mighty Cougar.

1st, however, I needed some clear

pictures, and to follow them up

with a little research...

Dang. It was a Rotty, notty a Cougar !

LOST "MERK" PROJECT ?!

Right before going off to College,

I was gearing up to make my most

ambitious Merk Film. This photo

is all that remains. It was going

to have a REAL story, not just

be stream-of-consciousness

silly slapstick skits. So, what

the heck happened ? Why~

S.D. & R & R, of course !

What a shame. Smoking

Pot really caused me to

lose focus. A 20-year

side-track haha !

Now, in 20 more

years, I plan to

be an overnight

success !

Pastel for my Grandparents done in

1990; simple in concept & execution.

I was a smoker @ the time and literally

used a pack of Camel cigs as reference

for the animals here. This piece became

a night light, left on in a hallway, up

until my Grandparents passed away

and it was inherited by my folks...

who shoved it behind the water

heater in the basement, adding

cobwebs to the story...

Like alot of my painting work, this piece

no longer exists (unless, like a lot of stuff

set on the curb in Philadelphia it got RE-

cycled by another thirsty Artist). It was

an extra large piece on MASONITE,

about 4ft by 4ft square. The image

directly below is a reworking

overtop a cheap copy made

on 8.5 x 11 paper. The other

two images are slide pics

taken @ different times,

in different places.

If I can find the slide photos

of some of the details I will

post them in the future...

surface takes forever to dry so you

rhythm. The Wedding last

weekend was a blast,
